Goal-Setting and Expectations

  •  You should have 2 basic weight-loss goals: 
-Your initial goal (short term).
-Your long-term goal (say, a year 
  from now)
Both of these goals should be realistic and practical for you to achieve.
  • Your initial goal –– 10%
    -Achieving your initial goal will let you start enjoying the health benefits of weight loss immediately. For an initial weight-loss goal, many health experts suggest 10% of your current body weight.


    Your current weight x 10% = your initial goal for losing weight. 

That means if you weigh 200 lbs, your initial weight-loss goal 

                    would be 10% x 200, or 20 lbs. 
 
 
  • Your long-term goal 
  • -Long-term goals vary from person to person, and should always be determined with a doctor's help. The best success is usually enjoyed when your goal is something you can visualize –– fitting into a certain piece of clothing, or playing energetically at the beach a year from now.
